MUSCAT: After a three-year-long hiatus, Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir celebrated its Annual Athletic Meet and Drill Display for the Primary School students of Grades III, IV and V. The first post-pandemic sports day event was held on the 17th of November, 2022 on the Primary School grounds. Mr. Mustafa Ahmed Haroon Al Zidjali, Marketing Specialist, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth presided over the event as Chief Guest.
The pleasant weather and the fantastic turnout of both parents and grandparents added much delight and boosted the morale and enthusiasm of the budding sportspersons, who were thrilled to participate in the various track events, group games and drill displays. the Past, I Don’t Sweat, I Sparkle; and, Win, Cheers and Jump were the captivating drill displays of the enthralling event. The inter-school invitation relay had all on the edge of their seats. The fabulous march past put forth by the contingents of the four houses namely- Ashoka, Tagore, Akbar and Vivekananda was a feast to the eyes as the marching band played in perfect synchrony, much to the zeal of the spectators. The sprints and relays had hearts pounding and the air filled with deafening applauds as the athletes broke the tape at the finish line. Parents and teachers too joined in and participated in relays much to the delight of the students.
Both the staff and students of the school had indeed put their best foot forward to participate in the annual sports day. Perfect commitment and team spirit lead to the overwhelming success of the annual athletic meet and drill display of the Primary School of I.S.W.K. The message that went out to all who couldn’t claim a podium finish was not to give up for their medal, their day would surely come. All they needed to do was to strive a little harder.
