MUSCAT : Oman’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) has issued licence to Beehive, a leading Fintech pioneer to practice crowdfunding activity in the country.

With the approval, Beehive becomes the second crowdfunding platform to receive the nod from CMA, after leading crowdfunding platform Ethis Investment Platform LLC from Malaysia got the first licence to operate in the country.

Beehive is MENA’s first regulated online marketplace for peer to peer lending. According to its website, Beehive directly connects smart investors and creditworthy businesses to build mutually beneficial partnerships for growth.

Meanwhile, Ethis Group will formally launch in Oman on June 23, in what could be the start of crowdfunding activity in the Sultanate. The launch will be held at the College of Banking and Financial Services (CBFS) in Baushar.
