MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman officially took over the presidency of the Asia-Pacific group at the United Nations in a ceremony organised in New York.
Ambassador Amrit Bahadur, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Nepal to the United Nations, expressed his happiness at the Sultanate’s assumption of the rotating presidency of the Asia-Pacific Group at the United Nations.
He also added that with the international standing and reputation Oman enjoys, makes it an ideal candidate to lead this vital and effective group at the United Nations.

For his part, Ambassador Dr. Mohammed bin Awad Al-Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, has expressed the Sultanate’s readiness to lead the Asia-Pacific Group at the United Nations.
The United Nations includes 55 countries, stressing the Sultanate’s endeavour to preserve the interests of Asian and Pacific countries in the organisation, international forums.
