MUSCAT: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, on Wednesday, spoke with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran, regarding bilateral relations and developments on the regional and international arenas.
Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi was quoted saying in a joint press conference that his visit to Tehran also included an invitation from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Oman.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs added, “We want to expand economic relations between the private sectors in Oman and Iran. We also stressed that the political relations between the two countries depend on mutual respect, and the two countries are working to ensure that these relations serve both countries and the region.”

For his part, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that we discussed the political relations between the two countries and that bilateral economic and trade cooperation witnessed remarkable growth in recent months, stressing the agreement to expand economic cooperation.
He added that His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has extended an official invitation to the Iranian president to visit the Sultanate of Oman, expressing his hope that this visit would be achieved at the earliest possible opportunity, to constitute an important turning point in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and the Omani counterpart exchanged views on issues of common interest and regional issues in addition to the negotiations in Vienna regarding the nuclear agreement with Iran.
He stressed that few issues are still pending in the negotiations, but they are extremely important, pointing out that during his visit to Munich, he announced to the western parties that Iran will not cross its red lines in Vienna, and will prove that strongly, and this position was also adopted by the chief Iranian negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani during his meetings.
