MUSCAT: Indian Embassy in Oman will be reissuing passports of Indian nationals living in Oman for free of cost if it was lost or damaged during cyclone Shaheen in 2021. 

The announcement came from His Excellency Amit Narang, the Indian ambassador when he chaired the Open House at the embassy premises on Friday. “Ambassador announced free of cost re-issuance of passports of Indian nationals which were damaged/lost during cyclone Shaheen in 2021. Details to be made available on Embassy’s website,” Indian Embassy informed on Twitter. 

Meanwhile, PM Jabir, a popular social worker in the Sultanate said 70 such applications to reissue passports have been submitted to the embassy. “Mr Ramachandran and his Kairali team took a visit to the cyclone-affected area and had collected the information of 70 such passports and submitted them at the embassy,” he said. 

The applications to reissue the passports must be submitted within two months. “The facility is only for those passports damaged during the cyclone Shaheen,” Jabir added.
