MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman affirmed its conviction that encouraging the values of peaceful dialogue and solidarity enhance partnerships and contribute to their success. It also stressed the importance of international cooperation and multilateralism to achieve and accelerate the 2030 Global Agenda, respond to the needs and aspirations of countries, and bridge the gaps between developed and developing countries.
This came in the Sultanate’s speech before the Partnerships Forum of the Economic and Social Council at the United Nations in New York, within the framework of its membership in the Council for the period 2022/2024, delivered by Counsellor Ahmed bin Daoud Al Zadjali, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations.
The Sultanate welcomed the forum’s shedding light on fundamental development issues in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, including access to vaccines, health and social protection, reducing gaps between countries and financing development.

Counsellor Ahmed Al Zadjali touched on the importance of building strategic partnerships at the national, regional and global levels, as they are not limited to providing financial support, but also enable capacity building, exchange of expertise, best international practices and experiences and their application at local levels in order to accelerate the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
He pointed out the need to define mechanisms and work methods that provide an attractive environment for partnerships, for more effective performance and sustainable and effective cooperation that avoids duplication of efforts.
He said that the Sultanate is proud of the participatory approach adopted to crystallise our national development plan Oman Vision 2040, and the commitment of all spectrums of Omani society, including government institutions and civil society, in implementing this vision, which includes axes of national and global importance such as promoting education and harnessing science and innovation.
Providing social and health protection for all segments of society, addressing the effects of climate change, empowering women and youth, and working to ensure financial sustainability, as it works to improve its economic and financial performance in light of the current pandemic, by engaging the private sector as a key driver of the economy, empowering youth and providing job opportunities. them, in addition to encouraging entrepreneurship, supporting small and medium enterprises, and promoting investment opportunities.
