MUSCAT: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued an alert related to the state of the sea and active winds in the Sultanate of Oman.
According to the latest analysis of numerical prediction maps and satellite images, Oman may be affected by active northwesterly winds in most of the governorates, starting from Thursday evening, January 20 and continuing for several days to come. The northwesterly winds with a speed ranging between (15 – 30) knots, (28-56) km/h can be expected for the next few days.
It is expected that the height in sea waves on the coasts overlooking the Sea of Oman and the western coasts of Musandam overlooking the Arabian Gulf, and its maximum height may reach between (2-4) meters.

Also, there may be decreased horizontal visibility due to the rise of dust and dust on deserts and open areas. A noticeable decrease in temperatures can be expected, which may decrease by 5-8 degrees compared to the current temperatures.
The Civil Aviation Authority called on citizens, residents, fishermen and vehicle drivers in particular to take caution during high sea waves and low horizontal visibility, and to follow up on its weather forecasts.
