First Omani to head Union of Arab News Agencies honoured

Dr. Al-Araimi is a tribute to the Omani media scene and the press movement in the Sultanate.

MUSCAT: The Federation of Arab News Agencies, in a ceremony held in Riyadh on Tuesday, honoured Dr. Muhammad Al-Araimi, President of the Omani Journalists Association.

He donned a great role during his presidency of the Union of Arab News Agencies from 2019 to 2021. Here, Dr. Al-Araimi became the first Omani to head this union which was established in 1964 by the League of Arab States which includes the national news agencies of 18 Arab countries.

Honouring Dr. Al-Araimi is a tribute to the Omani media scene and the press movement in the Sultanate in particular. Al-Araimi has a rich media career, and is considered a researcher in political affairs. He holds a BA and PhD in political science, and a master’s degree in systems and international relations.

The doctor worked at the Oman News Agency as a news editor since 1993 until he became its president. He was elected president of the Omani Journalists Association in the past and the current periods. He was previously chosen as president of the Omani Association of Writers and Writers, and the Assistant Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Writers and Writers.

In addition to his practical career, Dr. Muhammad participated in many regional and international scientific and media conferences, and has interests in studying the Gulf region, especially the Sultanate.

He published several books, including “The Omani Vision for Gulf Cooperation”, “Contemporary Issues in the Political and Media Dimensions” and “Shura in the Omani Political System” which is in addition to many articles, studies and research in newspapers, magazines and periodicals specialised in political science.
