Weather alert: Rains to continue in many parts of Oman

Oman Meteorology said upper air trough over Arabian Sea will continue to affect the Sultunate till Sunday 18th July 2021.

MUSCAT: The National Multi Hazards Early Warning Center has issued the latest weather update following heavy rains in many parts of Oman.

In its latest bulletin, the Oman Meteorology said the upper air trough over the Arabian Sea will continue to affect the Sultanate till Sunday 18th July 2021.

“Cloud advection and formation will continue over all the governorates with chances of isolated rain occasionally thundershowers associated with fresh downdraft winds and flow of wadis. The heavy rain will concentrate over North Al Batinah , Dhofar , Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas and Oman sea coastal areas,” the statement said.

“Sea state is expected to be rough along Arabian Sea coasts with wave height ranging from 3.0 to 4.0 meters, whereas along Oman Sea coast it will be moderate with a maximum wave height of 2.0 meters,” the statement said.

“The Civil Aviation Authority advices public to take precautions during thundershowers , the flow of wadis and unstable sea state and to follow its latest weather bulletins and reports,” CAA added in the statement.
