MUSCAT : Police in Oman have arrested three people accused of defrauding victims of a total of RO40,000 by claiming they could multiply their money and generate financial returns, the Royal Oman Police said.

The arrests were made by the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation in connection with two separate cases involving suspects of an African nationality, police said in a statement.

The suspects allegedly used deceptive methods to persuade victims that they could double their funds and deliver profits.

Police urged the public to use lawful channels for financial transactions and avoid schemes offering unrealistic promises of multiplying money or making large, quick profits.

Anyone who falls victim to fraud should report it immediately by calling the police hotline on 80077444, the statement said.
