MUSCAT: A SalamAir flight from Muscat to Jeddah on May 11 was sent back to Muscat as Saudi Arabia denied entry, according to a statement from the airline.
“The flight was returned to Muscat as it was not permitted to enter the airspace of Saudi Arabia as information of some passengers’ historical data from previous flights that is normally transmitted automatically between the airline’s system and the authorities’ system were missing,” said Captain Mohamed Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of SalamAir.
“After addressing this with the Saudi authorities, the flight flew from Muscat to Jeddah on May 12 as per its regular schedule. All SalamAir flights are now cleared to fly to their Saudi destinations according to their scheduled times,” he added.

Recently, SalamAir had increased connectivity between Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) destinations by launching non-stop flights to Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as four seasonal flights to Medina catering to Umrah travellers during the holy month of Ramadan.
This was airline’s second destination to the Kingdom after Jeddah.
