MUSCAT: The Supreme Committee has decided to extend the night movement ban and closure of commercial activities in Dhofar Governorate between 6pm till 5am, starting from Saturday April 17 until further notice.

In a statement issued, committee also confirmed that “this decision is subject to review at a later stage, according to the developments of the epidemiological indicators, and that it may take more stringent decisions to prevent the spread of the epidemic, including complete closure if the epidemiological situation calls for it.”

The decision comes in the wake of rising coronavirus cases. However, the movement ban and closure of commercial activities in all other governorates will be between 9pm to 4am throughout the Ramadan period.

The committee also urged people to stop frequenting shops, malls and popular markets in crowded times, to protect society from the spread of the epidemic.
