MUSCAT: Oman is planning to vaccinate teaching staff before the beginning of the next academic year, the country’s Minister of Health said.
Speaking to reporters, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health said if vaccine companies kept their promises, teaching staff in the Sultanate will be vaccinated for Covid-19.
“We hope that the teaching staff will be vaccinated before the beginning of the next academic year if the companies kept their supply promises,” he said.
Until Monday, MOH has vaccinated over 170,000 people including 13,000 residents of Musandam Governorate. Speaking about the delay in obtaining vaccines, Al Saidi said: “The most important reason for the delay is the failure of companies to step up production capabilities.”

“The fact that the Sultanate did not receive quantities promised by the companies had nothing to do with the funding, which has the full support of His Majesty the Sultan,” the Minister added.
