MUSCAT: More than 1.2 million smart electricity meters will be installed across all governorates in the country over the next five years, a top official informed.

In a statement issued to Oman News Agency (ONA), General Director of Subscriber Affairs at the Authority for Public Services Regulatory said the project comes in line with Oman 2040 Vision.

“The General Director of Subscriber Affairs at the Authority for Public Services Regulatory confirms that the project to switch to smart meters for electricity subscribers in the Sultanate aims, over the next five years, to install more than 1,200,000 smart meters in all governorates of the Sultanate,” the statement said.

“The project comes in line with the directions and goals of Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on keeping pace with global developments and employing technology in providing services related to electricity with better efficiency and effectiveness and developing smart sustainable cities that are characterized by the availability of basic services. ” the statement added.
