MUSCAT : Oman has witnessed a 18 percent drop in the number of legal cases registered last year, the country’s Public Prosecution said on Tuesday.

In 2020, the Public Prosecution registered 23,831 cases, compared to 28,920 cases in 2019. “There is a decrease of 18% compared to 2019,” the Public Prosecution said during the annual press conference.

According to the Public Prosecution, network crimes are among the most common crimes reported last year, while 11.5% crimes were of those violating labour law. Over 10,500 judgements were executed in 2020. “This is a decrease of 8% compared to 2019,” the Public Prosecution noted. In 2019, 11,678 judgements were executed by the courts.
