MUSCAT: Modifying a vehicle or adding any part that does not meet with the manufacturing specifications can lead to a jail term of three months and a fine of OMR 500, Oman’s Public Prosecution (PP) said.

According to traffic experts, the practice of making noise with modified cars will annoy other drivers on road and nearby residents.

PP said modified cars will be stopped, legal action will be taken against them. “Modifying or adding any part to a vehicle that dose not meet with manufacturing specifications or impacts safety or public tranquility is an offense punishable for a period up to three months imprisonment and a fine that extends to OMR 500 or by either one of these two sentences?” PP said in the statement.
