MUSCAT: Oman’s legendary footballer Ali Al Habsi has been named in the High Performance Sports Committee which has been formed under the chairmanship of His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth.
The High Performance Sports Committee has been formed based on a decision issued by Sayyid Theyazin that is aimed at creating an umbrella to take care of the currently distinguished athletes, who have proven that they have potential capabilities that qualify them to reach the level of international and Olympic high performance. The committee will also create a comprehensive development strategy to be carried out within a fixed timeframe and to contribute to Oman Vision 2040.
According to the decision, the ministry’s Under-Secretary for Sports and Youth will be the deputy chairman of the committee. The other members include the Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), the Secretary General of OOC, the Minister’s Adviser for Sports Planning, the Director General of Planning, and the Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs.
