MUSCAT: Sheraton Oman Hotel, the iconic landmark of the Sultanate, has introduced Omani Halwa as part of its offerings as a takeaway, the country’s most favourite sweet treat. Yes, Omani Halwa, a symbol of hospitality is now being served during Omani Sabla Night which is held every Friday at the Courtyard gardens, the hotel’s outdoor venue.
This Omani Halwa made in-house and is available for sale in exquisitely designed package at the Tea Library. Starting from OMR 5, the halwa is available in two types of exclusive packaging, ideal to gift to friends, families and also for formal occasions.
Mr. Samir Messaoudi, General Manager, Sheraton Oman said, “We are delighted to introduce the Omani Halwa to our culinary offerings. Keeping in line with our themed night that is focused on local cuisine and culture, Omani Halwa speaks of tradition. This national dessert symbolises the legendary Omani hospitality and is close to people’s heart. Employing traditional methods and techniques, Omani chefs stir up this sweet delicacy in a “MIRJNL”, which is a large copper pot used for Halwa making. All traditional ingredients are locally sourced.

Sheraton Halwa is a part of the Omani Sabla Night which takes gastronomes on a journey of flavours, ingredients and colours into the Sultanate’s traditional kitchens. At the time of conceptualization, as a team, we did sample tastings for small social circles to ensure authenticity.
