MUSCAT : Oman has launched the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination programme on Sunday with His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health receiving the first dose.
The Ministry of Health received the first batch of 15,600 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine on Thursday. The second consignment containing 28,000 doses scheduled to arrive by early January 2021, according to MOH.
In a statement issued, MOH said the vaccines will be distributed to three governorates as a first stage. In Muscat Governorate, Seeb Polyclinic, Baushar Polyclinic and Amerat Polyclinic are the vaccination centres. The vaccine will be given in two doses 21 days apart.

Speaking about the vaccination campaign, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Hosni, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health said the vaccination will be done in batches.
