MUSCAT: The first episode of ‘Meet-the-Leader’ programme initiated by the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman, titled ‘GLINTS – Going Beyond’, was taken over by storm by its first speaker Ms. Kiran Bir Sethi, a Designer who became a Teacher, a Principal who grew into an Education Reformer and subsequently morphed into a Social Entrepreneur. 

Founder of Riverside School, Gujarat, the life principle of Ms. Sethi is ‘If we are born human by chance, then we can be humane by choice.’ An initiative that started from a personal experience, Riverside has become the amalgamation of learning embedded in common sense –  an idea that began with the goal of assuring children that they are not just ‘markable’ but ‘remarkable’ has now found roots in countries worldwide. 

In the interactive session with the teachers of Indian Schools in Oman, she shared her experience of founding the Riverside School and emphasised on the confidence and courage the teachers at the Riverside instils into the young minds to mould them into responsible citizens. 

In his inaugural address, Dr. Baby Sam Saamuel, Chairman, Board of Directors, Indian Schools said the year 2020 has taught the world the indispensable role of teachers as foster parents and it has been a year-long celebration of teacher’s day. The Chairman lauded the teachers for their earnestness towards learning from the best practices. “’Glints’ is an initiative by the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman to share the spark of great ideas, to learn and to empower,” Dr. Sam said. 

The programme was hosted by Indian School Bousher; and the session was moderated by its Principal Mr. Rakesh Singh Tomar.
