MUSCAT: The event was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth with the participation of more than 85 attendees and 12 lecturers from among specialists and stakeholders in the fields of medicine and sports science.

The closing ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Said Harib Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs.

Over the course of two days, the forum reviewed the latest scientific developments and professional practices in the fields of sports medicine and rehabilitation, with a particular focus on sports injuries affecting the shoulder joint and the lower spine, as well as approaches to their assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention, with the participation of experts and specialists from within the Sultanate of Oman and abroad.

The third edition witnessed the launch of three research papers by the Ministry, alongside discussions of a number of specialized topics encompassing orthopaedic surgery, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, psychological care, sports nutrition, radiology, pain management and sports dentistry — all of which contribute to enhancing the exchange of expertise and developing the skills of medical and sports professionals.

The organisation of the forum forms part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth’s efforts to develop national competencies, raise the efficiency of medical and rehabilitation services provided to athletes, and strengthen the integration of research with practical application — thereby contributing to safeguarding athletes’ health, accelerating their recovery from injuries and elevating their levels of physical and athletic readiness.
