MUSCAT: The prohibition also covers the possession, sale, purchase, export, transportation and trading of abalone during the restricted period, according to the decision published in Official Gazette No. 1671.
The ban extends to possessing abalone extraction tools and equipment on fishing boats and vessels or near coastal areas and fishing sites throughout the prohibition period.
The decision provides an exception for abalone legally caught before it takes effect. However, the handling and export of such stocks will require permits issued by the competent authority.
