MUSCAT: According to the Consumer Protection Authority, the court ordered the suspension of the sentences imposed on both defendants and required them to pay the incurred expenses.
The case involved a consumer who contracted a travel and tourism agency to arrange a trip to London for two people at a total cost of RO 1,250. The consumer paid RO 1,200 towards the package.
However, the consumer later discovered that valid flight reservations had not been made and that the tickets issued were invalid for travel. Despite repeated requests, the agency failed to refund the amount paid.
The court convicted the defendants of the misdemeanour of failing to refund the cost of a service after failing to provide it properly and in accordance with its nature.
