ASTANA : His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik was awarded Kazakhstan’s highest state honour, the Order of the Golden Eagle, by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Tuesday, Oman News Agency reported.
The presentation took place at the Palace of Independence in Astana during His Majesty’s state visit to Kazakhstan.
The decoration recognised His Majesty’s support for advancing cooperation and partnership between Oman and Kazakhstan, the agency said.

Known in Kazakh as the Order of Altyn Qyran, the decoration is Kazakhstan’s highest state award.
The two leaders exchanged decorations during the ceremony. The ONA announcement identified the honour presented to His Majesty but did not name the Omani decoration conferred on Tokayev.
