NEW YORK: Oman’s Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi met his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in New York, with discussions focusing on regional developments, de-escalation efforts and the safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to Oman’s Foreign Ministry.
The two ministers reviewed efforts aimed at containing tensions across the Middle East and Gulf and stressed the importance of maintaining diplomatic engagement to build confidence and work towards consensual and practical solutions to outstanding issues.

They said continued diplomatic contacts were important to reaching approaches that take into account the interests of all parties while supporting security and stability across the region.
The talks also addressed efforts related to maritime safety in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring freedom of navigation, which the ministers said was important for supporting international trade and energy supplies.
