MUSCAT : The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said it has taken legal action against those involved in two videos that went viral online showing expatriates throwing money at employees while they were carrying out their duties.
The clips circulated widely across social media platforms and sparked considerable discussion among netizens over the behaviour shown in the footage.
In a statement, the ROP said it followed up on both videos after they were shared online.

The first clip showed an expatriate throwing money at an employee while the worker was performing his duties.
A second video showed another expatriate appearing to carry out a similar act involving a female employee.
Police, however, clarified that the second incident was staged as part of an awareness scene. The ROP said this was established based on statements provided by the female employee and those accompanying her.
The ROP said legal procedures were being completed against all those involved, without providing further details on the nature of the action being taken.
