Muscat: The initiative was discussed during an introductory meeting held on Monday to highlight the role and working mechanism of the Supplier Development Business Center in Duqm, with the participation of several companies operating in the special economic zone.
The meeting focused on improving integration between small and medium enterprises and large companies, with the aim of expanding the participation of local firms in supply chains, contracts and procurement activities.
Discussions also covered ways to identify business and contracting opportunities available to SMEs, while developing and updating an integrated database of local suppliers linked to the requirements of companies operating in the region.

The move is expected to help align the capabilities of local enterprises with available commercial opportunities and make it easier for companies to identify suitable suppliers.
Participants also reviewed programmes and initiatives aimed at developing and qualifying local suppliers by improving their technical, administrative and operational capabilities.
The programmes are designed to raise the competitiveness of SMEs and strengthen their ability to benefit from the growing economic and investment opportunities available in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
Through the cooperation, Riyada aims to strengthen local content, improve SME access to business opportunities and encourage sustainable partnerships between smaller enterprises and major companies.
