MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik departed the Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday morning, September 16, for the Republic of Botswana on a two-day state visit, following an invitation from Botswana President Duma Gideon Boko.

The visit comes as Oman and Botswana seek to further develop their bilateral relations and explore opportunities for cooperation and investment across various sectors. Official statements ahead of the visit highlighted the two countries’ interest in advancing their partnership and taking relations to wider horizons.

His Majesty the Sultan is accompanied by a high-level official delegation comprising HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; H.E. Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; H.E. Gen Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’mani, Minister of the Royal Office; H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; and H.E. Dr Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office.

The delegation also includes H.E. Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of Oman Investment Authority; H.E. Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; and H.E. Ambassador Ali bin Said Al Kathiri, who supervises the Sultanate of Oman’s relations with Botswana from the Omani mission in South Africa.
