MUSCAT : The road was officially opened on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, as part of a wider 9-kilometre road upgrade project aimed at enhancing connectivity and road safety.
The newly opened section begins at the main Jabal Akhdar road opposite the DusitD2 Naseem Resort, Jabal Akhdar, and extends to Al Makhb, passing through Shanout.
The ministry stated that the road has been equipped with comprehensive traffic safety infrastructure, including metal and concrete barriers, as well as directional and warning signs, to improve safety for motorists.

The project is expected to support tourism in Jabal Akhdar by improving traffic flow and making it easier for residents and visitors to access tourist attractions and residential communities across the wilayat.
