MUSCAT : In a public awareness message, the committee said while not all risks can be anticipated, communities can prepare to confront them by understanding national hazards, their potential impacts and preventive measures.

The National Risk Register identifies a wide range of potential risks facing the Sultanate, including tropical cyclones, floods and storms, earthquakes and tsunamis, power and telecommunications outages, water supply disruptions, emerging human and animal epidemics, food contamination, oil and chemical spills, radioactive or nuclear contamination, fires and explosions at chemical plants, maritime and air transport accidents, and adventure tourism incidents.

The committee also called on the public to rely on official government channels for accurate information during emergencies and to support the efforts of relevant authorities by reporting incidents and cooperating during crises.
