MUSCAT: Temperatures across parts of Oman climbed to nearly 50 degrees Celsius on Thursday, with Muqshin recording the highest temperature in the country at 49.4°C over the past 24 hours, according to data released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Mukhaizna registered the second-highest temperature at 48.9°C, followed by Haima at 48.4°C, As Sunainah at 48.0°C, and Umm Al Zamaym at 47.9°C.
Other areas reporting intense heat included Ibri (47.2°C), Marmul (46.8°C), Al Qabil (45.8°C), Bidiyah (45.8°C), Izki (45.7°C) and Al Mazyunah (45.7°C).

The latest readings highlight the continuing summer heatwave affecting large parts of the Sultanate, particularly interior and desert regions, where temperatures have remained well above seasonal averages.
Authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions, stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during peak daytime hours as extreme temperatures persist across the country.
