MUSCAT – The bulletin showed that Muscat Governorate continued to have the largest population, with 1,538,312 people, accounting for 28.6 percent of the Sultanate of Oman’s total population.
North Al Batinah Governorate ranked second with a population of 945,647 people, representing 17.6 percent of the total population, followed by South Al Batinah Governorate with 589,152 people, accounting for 10.9 percent.
Al Dakhiliyah Governorate ranked fourth with 574,354 people, representing 10.7 percent of the population, while Dhofar Governorate came fifth with 535,623 people, accounting for 9.9 percent.
Among the remaining governorates, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate recorded 377,701 people, representing 7 percent, followed by North Al Sharqiyah Governorate with 322,914 people (6 percent), Al Dhahirah Governorate with 248,813 people (4.6 percent) and Al Buraimi Governorate with 135,629 people (2.5 percent).
The population of Al Wusta Governorate stood at 64,566 people, representing 1.2 percent of the total population, while Musandam Governorate recorded 55,802 people, accounting for 1 percent.
