The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources said 493 projects were implemented or developed between 2021 and 2025, with investment exceeding RO 1.8 billion, helping expand production capacity and improve competitiveness.
Growth in production projects and investment has helped increase local output and self-sufficiency, strengthen domestic supply chains and create further investment opportunities, the ministry said in a statement marking World Food Day on October 16.
Oman is seeking to expand the role of agriculture and fisheries in its economy under its Vision 2040 diversification strategy, with a focus on private investment, higher productivity and more efficient use of natural resources.
The ministry said adopting modern technology would be central to improving production methods, water efficiency, food quality and safety, while helping food systems adapt to future challenges.
It also called for stronger cooperation between government institutions, businesses and producers to develop production, supply and marketing networks and ensure a sustainable supply of safe food.
