MUSCAT – Oman’s total electricity production increased by 9.7 per cent during the first four months of 2026, reaching 14,790.4 gigawatt-hours (GWh) by the end of April, compared with 13,479.8 GWh during the same period in 2025, according to preliminary data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Net electricity production, which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and Rural Areas Electricity Company, also rose by 9.5 per cent to 14,344.7 GWh, up from 13,103.7 GWh in the corresponding period last year.
In contrast, total water production declined by 2.3 per cent to 158,656.5 million cubic metres by the end of April. Muscat Governorate recorded the largest decrease, with output falling 12.6 per cent from 70,163.1 million cubic metres in April 2025 to 61,334.5 million cubic metres during the same period this year.

Meanwhile, water production in Dhofar Governorate increased by 3.1 per cent to 25,455.9 million cubic metres, compared with 24,687.3 million cubic metres a year earlier. Water output in the remaining governorates also rose by 6.4 per cent, reaching 71,866.1 million cubic metres, up from 67,513.5 million cubic metres in the corresponding period of 2025.
The figures highlight continued growth in electricity demand across the Sultanate, while water production trends varied across regions during the first four months of the year.
