MUSCAT : Temperatures in parts of Oman climbed to 48°C on Tuesday as a persistent heatwave continued to affect several regions of the Sultanate, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Data released by the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre showed that the highest temperature of 48°C was recorded in Muscat, Al Khabourah, Suwaiq, Barka and Wadi Al Maawil as of 12:40 pm on June 2.
The authority advised residents to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during the afternoon hours, and to drink adequate amounts of water to prevent dehydration. It also urged the public to follow weather updates and official advisories issued by meteorological authorities.

According to the CAA, the current surge in temperatures is being influenced by an upper-level high-pressure system affecting the region. The weather pattern, combined with dry northwesterly winds and other atmospheric factors, has contributed to a significant rise in daytime temperatures across Oman.
