MUSCAT : Tea imports rose from RO 13.9 million in 2021 to RO 28.2 million in 2025, marking an increase of 103.2 per cent. Imported volumes also climbed significantly, from 9.3 million kilograms to 26.2 million kilograms, representing growth of 182.1 per cent over the same period.

Coffee recorded an even stronger increase in value, with imports rising from RO 8.6 million in 2021 to RO 21 million in 2025, up 144.1 per cent. Import volumes increased from 6.2 million kilograms to 7.7 million kilograms, a rise of 23.9 per cent.

Kenya emerged as Oman’s largest tea supplier in 2025, with imports valued at RO 20.2 million. The United Arab Emirates followed with RO 4.7 million, while India supplied tea worth RO 1.1 million.

For coffee, the UAE topped the list of suppliers with imports valued at RO 8.5 million, followed by Vietnam at RO 2.6 million, Saudi Arabia at RO 1.6 million and Brazil at RO 1.5 million.

Oman also recorded notable re-export activity during 2025. Tea re-exports were valued at around RO 1.03 million, while exports stood at RO 737,200. Coffee re-exports reached RO 338,500, while exports were valued at RO 11,800.

Trade in tea- and coffee-related equipment and supplies also remained significant. Imports of such products reached RO 5 million in 2025, compared with RO 6.5 million in 2024, while re-exports amounted to RO 796,400.

The figures come amid continued expansion of Oman’s restaurant and café sector, reflecting growing demand for dining and beverage experiences across the country.

According to the latest available establishment data, 6,198 businesses operate in the restaurant sector, while 2,833 establishments primarily serve beverages and 6,295 mainly provide meals.

The sector also includes 427 mobile food and beverage establishments, along with 65 restaurants and canteens operating within public facilities.
