MUSCAT – The report highlights Oman’s strong performance across multiple logistics indicators, reflecting the competitiveness of its maritime, air, and postal trade systems and the ongoing development of its supply chain infrastructure.

Oman secured first place globally in the export supply chain initiation index, recording a turnaround time of just 0.8 days. The index measures the full cycle of an empty container from its departure until it returns loaded and ready for export, reflecting operational efficiency and speed in port handling procedures.

In another key achievement, Oman ranked ninth globally among 165 countries in the ‘Import supply chain termination’ index. This indicator measures the time taken from delivering a container to the consumer until it is returned empty to the warehouse, reflecting the efficiency of import operations and the smooth flow of goods.

Regionally, Oman ranked second in the Gulf in the ‘Export containers’ dwell time in port’ index, which measures the time export containers remain at the port from entry until loading onto a vessel. It also ranked third in the Gulf in the ‘Direct shipping line services’ index, which assesses the availability of regular maritime routes connecting national ports to global destinations.

Oman further ranked 25th globally and second in the Gulf in the ‘Number of shipping alliances’ index, which measures cooperation between shipping companies in managing joint operational and commercial activities, helping expand global maritime connectivity.

In the ‘Number of direct maritime connection partners’ index, Oman ranked 39th globally and third in the Gulf, reflecting the number of markets directly accessible through regular shipping services from its ports.

In the postal sector, Oman achieved 16th place globally among 190 countries and first in the Gulf in the ‘Business mail delivery time’ index, highlighting the efficiency and speed of postal and commercial shipment delivery services.

The strong performance reflects continued national efforts to develop Oman’s logistics sector through strengthening infrastructure, expanding port networks, and enhancing maritime and postal services, supporting trade, investment, and the country’s position as a global logistics hub.

The Logistics Performance Index (LPI), issued by the World Bank, measures the efficiency of supply chains and trade across countries. The 2025 edition is based on shipment-level operational data rather than traditional surveys, offering a more accurate assessment of logistics performance. The index evaluates countries across key dimensions including connectivity, speed, and reliability.
