Oman braces for extreme heat as mercury approaches 48°C

According to data released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the highest temperature recorded during the past 24 hours was 47.6°C in Dima Wa Al Tayeen.

MUSCAT — Oman experienced another day of intense heat on Saturday, with temperatures approaching the 48°C mark in several parts of the country as the summer season gathers momentum.

According to data released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the highest temperature recorded during the past 24 hours was 47.6°C in Dima Wa Al Tayeen, highlighting the increasingly harsh conditions across the Sultanate.

Several other regions also reported exceptionally high temperatures. Al Rustaq and Al Kamil Wa Al Wafi each recorded 47.4°C, while Sur reached 47.3°C and Bidbid registered 47.2°C. Fahud recorded 47.0°C, with Baushar and Al Amerat reaching 46.9°C and 46.8°C, respectively.

The list of the hottest locations also included Al Awabi and Sunaynah at 46.6°C, while Nakhal recorded 46.5°C.

The latest readings underline the growing intensity of summer weather across Oman, with temperatures remaining well above seasonal averages in many inland and coastal areas. Weather authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and stay hydrated as hot conditions are expected to persist in the coming days.

All temperature readings were recorded by the meteorological stations of the Civil Aviation Authority.
