MUSCAT – The initiative provides a comprehensive package of support, including funding for the preparation and maintenance of workshops, marketing and packaging assistance, and support for participation in exhibitions. It also offers training programmes and financial assistance for the purchase of machinery and raw materials, helping to improve production efficiency and enhance the quality of handicraft products.

The authority stated that the initiative is available to individual craftsmen holding licences for home-based productive activities, as well as to craft establishments registered with commercial records for licensed craft activities, in accordance with approved regulations.

Applicants are required to meet specific eligibility criteria, including registration with the authority and possession of a licensed craft activity issued by the competent authority. Additional conditions include not having received similar support within the past two years and having a suitable location to carry out the activity.

The authority also noted that a detailed guide has been published outlining the application mechanism and step-by-step procedures to help beneficiaries complete their applications accurately and efficiently.
The initiative covers 16 home-based production activities and 20 craft-based commercial activities, including the manufacture of Omani daggers, silverware, palm frond products, perfumes and incense, textiles, pottery and ceramics, as well as leather, wood, and metal industries, alongside other traditional crafts that reflect Oman’s cultural heritage.
According to the authority, the programme has seen growing interest, with around 2,995 beneficiaries supported between 2022 and 2025, and total approved funding exceeding RO 3 million, reflecting increasing engagement in the handicrafts sector and the initiative’s role in its development.
