MUSCAT : Oil prices surged towards the $100-a-barrel mark on Tuesday after Houthi attacks struck energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, intensifying concerns over supplies amid a widening conflict in the Middle East.
Brent crude climbed above $99 a barrel in international futures trading, reaching its highest level in several weeks as markets reacted to fresh attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also rose sharply to around $94.40 a barrel.
The latest rally follows gains on Monday, when Brent crude rose to around $98.06 before ending the session close to $97 a barrel. The October WTI futures contract was trading near $94.47.
