MUSCAT — His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at Al Baraka Palace on Sunday, as Oman continued its diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions and support dialogue aimed at resolving ongoing conflicts in the region.

According to the Oman News Agency (ONA), the meeting focused on the latest developments in the region, ongoing mediation efforts, and initiatives aimed at ending disputes through peaceful means.

During the discussions, His Majesty Sultan Haitham was briefed on Iran’s views regarding recent regional developments, while Foreign Minister Araghchi conveyed the Iranian side’s perspectives and listened to the His Majesty the Sultan’s vision on ways to advance diplomatic efforts.

His Majesty the Sultan stressed the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional issues, saying such an approach would help reinforce the foundations of peace, enhance the chances of reaching sustainable political solutions, and reduce the impact of crises on the peoples of the region.

ONA said His Majesty the Sultan also emphasized that continued diplomatic engagement and mediation efforts are essential to ending conflicts and preserving regional stability amid current challenges.

For his part, Araghchi expressed Iran’s appreciation for Oman’s positions and praised the Sultanate’s role, under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham, in supporting dialogue and promoting security and stability in the region, particularly in light of ongoing regional tensions.

The Iranian minister said Oman’s mediation efforts continue to play an important role in encouraging political solutions and strengthening regional peace efforts.
