MUSCAT : Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) retained the TAS Inter-School Badminton Tournament title on Saturday, lifting the ever-rolling trophy for a second consecutive year as Indian School Muscat (ISM) again finished runner-up.

Indian School Bousher (ISB) secured third place in the tournament’s second edition, which drew nearly 200 players to Kosmos Academy in Al Wadi Al Kabir.

A packed audience of parents, teachers and school supporters cheered from the sidelines as the young shuttlers competed for individual honours and school pride. Families followed their children’s matches closely, with applause and encouragement accompanying the action throughout the day.

ISG’s successful title defence fulfilled coach Vijayan’s pre-tournament confidence that his players could retain the trophy. Muscat, which had entered the competition hoping to improve on last year’s second-place finish, had to settle for the runner-up position once more.

The tournament was organised by The Arabian Stories in association with Morning Stars Badminton Club and endorsed by the Oman Racket Sports Committee.

Chief guest Dr Marwan bin Juma Al Juma, chairman of the Oman Hockey Association, presented the trophies to the winners, including the ever-rolling trophy to ISG.

Beyond the contest for silverware, the event offered opportunities to gain competitive experience and build friendships across schools. First-time participants from Sri Lankan School Muscat spoke about their preparations and the new friends they made during the tournament.

MOJ Sustainable Perfume was the presenting sponsor, while Tang was the tournament’s powered-by partner. Hyundai supported the event as Automotive Partner, with Fan4ever and Mesdac Solutions as Technology Partners.

Associate Partners were Ocean National, Al Mudhish, MBE, Yonex, Kosmos Sports, Tara Uniforms, BrandOne, Modern Exchange, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Kitchen ’94, Oman Oasis, Securado and MFO.
