WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington would begin the process of blockading all ships entering or leaving the Strait of Hormuz, hours after high-stakes talks with Iran ended without an agreement.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said U.S. forces would move to “blockade any and all ships” attempting to transit the vital waterway, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.

“At some point, we will reach an ‘all being allowed to go in, all being allowed to go out’ basis, but Iran has not allowed that to happen,” he said, blaming Tehran for restrictions on maritime movement.

Trump added that he had instructed the U.S. Navy to “seek and interdict every vessel in international waters that has paid a toll to Iran,” warning that ships complying with what he described as “illegal tolls” would not be guaranteed safe passage.

The remarks came shortly after U.S.-Iran negotiations in Islamabad collapsed following more than 20 hours of discussions, raising fears of further escalation in an already volatile region.
