MUSCAT – The fish landing centre project in Fins village in Qurayyat is being developed as part of Oman’s efforts to enhance food security and support the fisheries sector through improved infrastructure for fishermen.
Implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the project is part of broader initiatives to develop marine fisheries infrastructure and improve operational efficiency in coastal communities within Muscat Governorate.
Eng. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rashdi, Director of the Rehabilitation and Maintenance Department at the ministry, said the project is valued at an estimated RO 3 million and includes the construction of protective breakwaters, a boat slipway, and a designated investment area of around 10,000 square metres to support fisheries-related activities.
He added that the development also involves infrastructure works such as electricity and water networks and internal roads. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2027.
He further pointed out that the fish landing centre will improve conditions for fishermen, enhance the efficiency of landing operations, and stimulate local economic activity, thereby contributing to food security and the sustainable development of the fisheries sector in Fins village and surrounding areas.
