MUSCAT – Positioned as one of the most prominent upcoming destinations in the governorate, the project is set to transform visitor access to some of Muttrah’s most iconic coastal and mountain sites.
Spanning approximately 3 kilometres, the cable car will link key locations including Muttrah Fish Market, Riyam Park and Kalbuh Park through a three-station route. The system has been developed using Swiss engineering by Bartholet, known globally for its ropeway transport solutions.
Once operational, the ride between stations will take around six and a half minutes, while a full uninterrupted journey will last approximately 15 minutes. Visitors will have the flexibility to hop on and off at each station, allowing them to explore a range of leisure and cultural attractions along the route.

The cable car system will feature 18 air-conditioned cabins, each accommodating up to eight passengers, in addition to two VIP cabins designed for a more exclusive experience. The cabins themselves have been styled by Porsche Design Studio, adding a premium aesthetic to the overall experience.
At the mountain-top station overlooking Riyam, plans include an open-air theatre hosting year-round events, alongside a pedestrian promenade featuring dining outlets and entertainment options. Additional attractions include a large swing, adventure activities, and a digital museum showcasing the history of Muttrah through interactive exhibits.
