RIYADH : Saudi Arabia has confirmed that a new visa-free travel arrangement with Russia will take effect from May 11, 2026.
Under this agreement, citizens of both countries can travel without a visa for stays of up to 90 days. The initiative represents a major step in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties, making travel more accessible for tourists and business professionals alike. Officials emphasized that the move aims to foster people-to-people connections while supporting broader cooperation across various sectors.
The visa waiver follows a landmark agreement signed in December 2025, with both nations completing the required procedures to implement it. While the exemption covers tourism, business visits, and family travel, it excludes employment, study, and religious pilgrimage, which will continue to require visas. Analysts see this development as part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 strategy to open up globally and deepen strategic partnerships with key international players like Russia.
