MUSCAT : The discovery received provisional approval from the Minor Planet Centre of the International Astronomical Union, in collaboration with NASA, confirming its inclusion in global records as a main-belt asteroid.
According to the society, the finding was made through analysis of observational data from the Pan-STARRS Telescope. The asteroid has now entered the official documentation phase, following verification of its observational data.
The society explained that the object will undergo continuous orbital monitoring over the coming years to precisely determine its trajectory. This process will eventually allow researchers to assign it an official name.
The asteroid was identified through sequential imaging of the same region of space, where it appeared as a moving point of light against a background of fixed stars.
