Muscat Municipality conducts over 2,500 health inspections during Ramadan

Authorities record 20 violations, two closures and confiscate over 218kg of food during monitoring campaign.

MUSCAT: Muscat Municipality carried out 2,514 field inspection visits across the governorate during the holy month of Ramadan as part of intensified health monitoring campaigns to ensure food safety and public health.

According to data released by the municipality’s Health Control Departments, the inspections covered restaurants, food establishments and commercial outlets across several wilayats in Muscat Governorate.

The largest number of inspections was conducted in Bausher (822 visits), followed by Al Seeb (752), Muttrah (363), Al Amerat (316), Quriyat (176) and Muscat (85).

During the campaign, inspectors recorded 20 health violations and ordered the temporary closure of two establishments for failing to comply with hygiene and safety standards.

Authorities also reported receiving 68 public complaints, which were investigated by inspection teams.

As part of enforcement measures, inspectors confiscated and destroyed approximately 218.3 kilograms of food products and 128 items deemed unfit for consumption.

Muscat Municipality said the inspections form part of ongoing efforts to protect consumers, ensure compliance with health regulations and maintain food safety standards, particularly during Ramadan when food consumption and commercial activity increase significantly.
