MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has reported a disruption to internet services in parts of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate after fibre optic cables belonging to a telecommunications provider were accidentally cut during construction work in the Wilayat of Sur.
In a statement, the ROP said the damage occurred to optical fibre connections operated by one of the telecommunications companies due to ongoing construction activities in the area. The incident led to a disruption of internet networks, which in turn affected certain police services managed by the South Al Sharqiyah Police Command.
Authorities confirmed that technical teams are currently working to repair the fault and restore connectivity.

According to the statement, maintenance work is underway and services are expected to return to normal within the next few hours.
