MUSCAT – Authorities said containers marked with the number 1 symbol, such as bottled water bottles and certain ice cream tubs, are intended for single use only. Reusing them for storing food may pose health risks, the FSQC noted.
The centre urged consumers to check the recycling symbols on containers before repurposing them for food, emphasising that these symbols are key indicators of whether a container is safe for repeated use.
